Toshiba achieves 2.6 GJ/tonne CO2 for Post Combustion

Great news from the Toshiba plant.

One of the most important variables of Post Combustion technologies is the Regeneration Energy necessary to scrub the amine and extract the CO2 that it contains. This number is one of the key factors in evaluating plant capital and operational costs.

It is important to remember that, according to ZEP (Zero Emission Platform), 2020-2030 will start seeing commercially available amines of <2 GJ/tonCO2 and it will not be until >2030 that liquid solvents of less than 1,5 GJ/tonCO2 will be commonly used.
